BIOGRAPHY
I loved creating art the minute I made my first
clay ashtray and completed my first watercolor
painting in grade school.

Later, while wandering amidst the bazaars of South Asia and the brilliant white sand beaches of the Mediterranean with their firey sunsets, my fascination with color became a prominent design component in my creativity.

Once I settled, I discovered that scuba diving and my love of nature would provide me with the inspiration from which I could bring to life the form of my passion and the experience of my joy.

Because of my love of the ocean and nature, I am deeply committed to preserving the beauty that I experience underwater. I have become a strong supporter of the Ocean Conservancy, and am continuously searching out ways to shed light on the challenges facing the preservation our oceans. I hope that by bringing awareness to the beauty that is so alive under the water, people will begin to take notice of some of the problems that face the health of our seas.

My work is greatly appreciated by art and jewelry lovers along the East Coast of the US, and has been honored by awards at many juried art shows. I also work with fine jewelry stores throughout this country and Europe, and as of this summer am doing exclusive trunk shows onboard some of the International cruise lines.
RESUME

Florida Artist Alexis Barbeau – Unique ocean inspired jewelry

I took courses to learn basic techniques of soldering, piercing, wax carving and casting, and stone setting in San Francisco at the Academy of Art, and the Revere College of Goldsmithing. It's been almost 30 years, and much trial and error, but passion has persisted in providing the impetus to go on. Finding something that I love and staying with it, has led me deeper into my original search, and given me a means to survive both spiritually and physically. I am very grateful to be so fortunate to produce beautifully pleasing objects of adornment and passion.

A portion of my sales is donated to the Ocean Conservancy; a national organization which "promotes healty and diverse ocean ecosystems through research, education, and science-based advocacy". I am member of the Manufacturing Jewelers Association.

The collection is currently featured at Lily and Company in Sanibel, the Spa Boutique at the Marriott Harbor Beach in Ft Lauderdale, and the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach.
